A quick update

Trip to seattle has been good, rather unexpectedly excellent.
My second module finals have officially started today.. Was given two take home exams today, with a due date one week from now. That in a way means that my ass would be on fire during the whole time..
I wish i could finish the take homes before the actual exams start..
Wish me all th best for all A's in all the subjects..

Nostalgic of my booze days!!

No doubt I want to booozee. in memory of those best days and company of best friends!!!!!!Cannot wait for tomorrow, when i would be with my college friends.. Teetotellers but..... :)

My study group

How would you describe your day, if you had to get up early in the morning on a holiday and work on an assignment for anout 6 straight hours!!! At an initial thought, I figured it would be a busy, wokeup on the wrongside of the bed day.. But with my study group members long hours were never boring or tiring!!! Its an amazing bunch of people, every one has a knack at specific stuff..
Rohit: An amazing ABCD. Good at talking.. He can go on for hours talking about some thing or the other.. An excellent leader n team mate.If he werent around and the rest were to work on a porject, i am sure, it would go no where. Good at numbers.. and his out of the box thinking.. He, in short, is the glue that binds our team together..
Charles Joseph: A low profile guy,,. almost 80% of our batch doesnot know who Charles is!! well.. on the contrary, he is an interesting chap.. A guy who literally lives on Pot. Good at arguments.. Lazy.. Makes the whole meetings interesting by his quick witty anecdotes..Can safely categorized as a Safe Psycho. I like him the way he is, but...
ALessandra: The only female in our group. Cute and lively. THough she is of a fair sex, it never was a constraint for our guy talk.. A museum curator, by profession, has plans of owing a museum in the future. Not so very interested in getting grades.. Her say on accounting and finace - why should i damn care about them i would hire people who does accouting and finance. Cool gal to hang around with.
Trevor: I admire this guy a lot.. I guess he is the oldest of all..a rock start, a celebrity you can say, a marketing guy, high profile, Casanova, member of Mile High club (look up in google for what it is!!)... Though he is old,, he enjoys every minute of school. Though we hate the assignments, he always is positive on them.. This is what he is in the scholl for, to study, to learn.. and to make friends.
Me: The numbers guy and the virgin!! :) . they acknowledge that I am good at numbers and when ever some calculations come up, the eyes would be on me..

hmm.. I should be off to wash my clothes now.. Flying to Seattle tomw early moning.. Happy Thanks Giving folks!!!

Got a rejection from Citigroup and ATKearney summer internship program. I repent for being agressive in the internship search!!! I should have tweaked my resume a bit more before sending it across to my dream companies.. I need a HUG!!!!

Business plan competition!!!

We are participating in a business plan.. Well,,, not coz we have a great idea but coz the prize money is in 5 digits..
Yday we had a brain storming on the ideas.. and verey body was supposed to pitch in 2 ideas each. One of my team mates suggested a facial for old folk.. Seems after the world war there was a baby bloom ,, and he forecasts that the market for facials would have a boom in this phase..
My idea(s) were to 1. open a cycle stand kind of thing in US schools.. 2. Create a wifi hub for apartment complexes 3. rent out cheap cars/scooters in cheap for international students in the schools
They were not recieved that positively.. but well.. it was a nice experience to experience the way these americans approach the idea, and the way they bring it down systematically..
Finally, we chose a business plan related to ,, sorry, we were all bound by a honour code to not to let it out!!
I started my due diligence on the financial feasibility of the porject.. and in contrast to my expectations that google would throw me every number i needed, there was nomarket data available for free. The market data that would suit our needs was priced at 5000 USD.. (well,not exactly 5000 but at 4999).. I hate to get bounced by the same marketing concepts that i am learning in my curriculum!! :)
Thats about it.. I hope i would finish my end of work by tomorrow midnight.. Thats the dead line they decided.. But with the holiday mood already sinked in, i dont think its an easy task to work on it.

But.. why am i wasting my time in here instead of working on the business plan!!!!!I am an addict to addictions!!!!!

One lazy morning!!!

Yday this stupid thing, otherwise called bloggin, made me defer my working on marketing assignment .. and i ended up slogging till 2:00 in the night.. Well,,bloggin is not the only culprit though.. I tried to understand what went on in ydays Accounting class.. something about our accounting class.. Before MBA, i always presumed that Accounting is the MOST boring-est subject ever.. But our prof is an awesome teacher..Every single sentense in his class would be relevant.. If you miss a single sentence, it would take atleast 10-15 to get back on track again.. Some times it would serve no purpose to attend the class there on.. He makes the theoritical part seem so simple and ends the class with a case study. Case study is the most interesting part of the class.. Eevry body in the class are intimidated to answer his questions.. Sometimes even obvious questions like 2+2=? would not get any response from the class..anyways,, the bttom line is that he is an awesome professor..

Ohh.. i have to talk about todays sleeping morning right!!! well,, in ydays case study of accounting, i was the one who slacked for about 3 minutes during the class, and was blank for the rest of the class.. So i worked a lil bit on accoutning before hitting the sack... Got up at 7:30 in the morning.. STarted to school without a shower ( i guess this is the first time i attended a class without a shower).. Missing the bus, running out of cigarettes added to the drama.. Finally i was able to be On Time for the class.. The worst part of the day follows.. I literally slept-minus-snoring in the class.. DUring the break the guys sitting beside me wished me a Good Morning.. and gave me the cold news that the professor took a notice of my sound sleep.. I hope it does not affect my class participation share of marks!!!!All i care in marketing is a A or A-.. This is the last marketing class i am going to take.. Who cares!!!
Surprisingly,, The second half of the class was interesting.. She showed the results of the Psychology of customers in marketing.. Like.. One example :
You buy a ticket for a movie for 100$.. Just before entering the theater you realize that you lost your ticket.. Would you buy a new ticket for another 100$.

another one:
You go to buy a calculator of worth 250.. The shopkeeper tells you that the same calculator is available for 10 $ less in a shop some 20 miles away. Would you bother to visit the other shop.

Economics wise, tere is no difference.. But customers psycology makes the outcome different..

Last and the best one:
It snows in, say Boise..The demand for the showels increases and thus the shopkeeper raises the price from 100 to 120$. Is it justified?
80% of the customers (public) responded that it is not.. where are 80% of MBA grads responded it is!!!
She ended the class by saying - "the lesson is, when you go out in the market and work as executives, think from the customers perspective, not from MBA or economics perspective"

Ooooh!! lot of wasted time.. I should run to Borders and sudy, NOW!!

My first in my not first blog

Well,, let me take a count of the blogs I created so far.. started with live journal.. but it ended up at people who are not supposed to see it.. Fullhyd...I forgot the user name and password after sometime.. created a blogger id just becausei had to reply to my freinds blog, who incidentally has her blog with blogger and this damn site does not allow to comment unless you yourself as a blogger.. And one fine day i was so pissed by my job in cyprus,, and I had to vet out all my frustration on the company, my manager .. so i created a blog for a sole entry, with all the curses about my boss.. and here I am now.. father of another blog.. and i hope i wont live up to my tradition of leaving it unattended!!!!!!and Why do i need to blog NOW.. nice question.. I had to attend a continuous spree of classes from morning 8:00 till to evening 5:00.. Came home just to reliaze that i have a sick assignment to submit tomorrow morning.. Took a break from the assigment and got onto readin my friends blogs.. Then it hit me,, again,, why the heck should not i start blogging again.. Its not injurious for health,, it does not cost any money.. it is something you can stop and start again n again. and if you dont like whole business you can as welll end it..

And about me,, well, you must have got an idea of the kind of person I am.. if you havent, it isnot yoru fault and you havenot lost or gained anything much either.. lets end it saying that I am a GOOD person.. hmmm.. but the contoversy arises in the fact that GOOD is subjective.. GOOD is relative.. but thats what some of my friends say about me..

One friend pinged me on AIM (btw. i created my login in AIM today.. but i dont think it even stands a comparision with google talk, im terms of simplicity.. ).. He says that the chick i like in my class is flirting with him online.. :( .. THe best thing of being in school agian after a long time - you can talk about your class girls as you did in your college/highschool days.. :)


enough said, Had i put the same effort in my marketing assignment i would have completeed it.. I Hope i dont keep any loose ends with this blog..
Btw.. The case that i am preparing a write up on, is about a firm named Optical Distortion Inc, that is into selling contact lens for CHICKEN!! YES..i dont believe it either.. CHICKEN..
